The world’s worst humanitarian crisis, a geopolitical time bomb, Sudan has been at war for 54 years out of 68 since its independence in 1956. For 30 years the Sudanese have suffered a brutal dictatorship, and have taken part in 35 coups, attempted coups and coups plots, more than any other African country. Famine has loomed over them for decades until the current havoc.
